The air show was forced to cancel the show on Sunday, October 23rdafter overnight torrential rains flooded parking lots creating a muddy quagmire in the grass lots.
As a goodwill gesture, Alliance Air Productions, producers of the Fort Worth Alliance Air Show, have decided to provide vouchers for the 2012 show to fans that purchased advanced tickets to the Sunday, October 23rd, 2011 air show. The move comes despite the show’s published ticket purchase terms and conditions that state, “No refunds. No Exchanges. No Rain Dates.”
An e-mail will be sent out to all Sunday ticket purchasers from the Fort Worth Alliance Air Show. Sunday ticket purchasers should respond back to email@example.com 11:59 PM November 30thto register for vouchers for the 2012 show. Registrants will be provided a receipt allowing them to receive vouchers for the 2012 Fort Worth Alliance Air Show for the same types of tickets that they had purchased for the 2011 show. The vouchers will be for the Sunday show in 2012.
“Even though the show was cancelled on Sunday, there are still fixed expenses that must be paid,” said Christina Carey, special projects manager of the Fort Worth Alliance Air Show. “That being said, we want to offer this special opportunity to our incredible fans. Although we have not yet announced our dates or featured performers, we expect to be hosting another blockbuster lineup of world-class air show performers and phenomenal ground displays in 2012.”
This year’s show attracted approximately 50,000 fans for Saturday’s show that featured the United States Air Force Thunderbirds. Sunday’s show was cancelled at approximately 7:45 AM on Sunday after organizers realized that flooded lots would not provide safe and adequate parking for the expected crowd. Sponsors and vendors donated food that had already been purchased for Sunday’s show to area food banks.
