Mark your calendars and get ready to experience Laughlin Air Force Base's "Fiesta of Flight" Open House, Airshow and STEAM Expo March 9, 2024.
After a six year airshow hiatus, this event expects a crowd of over 10,000 attendees.
Fiesta of Flight promises to be a memorable demonstration of our United States air power and is a family friendly event for the Del Rio community and surrounding cities. Fiesta of Flight will feature a car show, food vendors, merchandise booths, activities for children and a STEAM Expo, showcasing aspects of science, technology, art, engineering, and math for the youth to explore.
Fiesta of Flight will be a fantastic event for aviation enthusiasts, aspiring pilots, history buffs, or everyday people that want to witness some incredible aerial displays and get an inside look into our mission to build combat ready Airmen, leaders and pilots.
The event's headlining act will be the F-35A Lightning II Demo Team! The F-35A is the U.S. Air Force’s newest fifth-generation fighter. The Lightning II is a stealthy, multirole, all-weather air-to-air and surface attack fighter.
A confirmed list of acts and static displays will be released on a later date.
Laughlin is one of the busiest U.S. Air Force pilot training bases, graduating more than 400 pilots in fiscal year 2023. This event will give the public a chance to see Team XL’s mission up close.
We hope to inspire the next generation of pilots, engineers, and mechanics through this excellent opportunity!
Event Site Entry Control Point (ECP) Personnel Screening Area. All airshow visitors, regardless of base affiliation, will process through one of two ECPs and be screened prior to entry. Assessments will be made using walk-thru magnetometers, hand-held magnetometers, and visual screening techniques. Entry Control Points will ensure all personnel entering the Air Show grounds are screened, searched, and secured. The Search Team will conduct screening and searches of personnel and hand carried items for all general Air show attendees to prevent contraband from entering the Event Area All hand-carried items will be searched and prohibited items will not be authorized.
Prohibited Items: The following hand-carried items will not be authorized in the Air show: Weapons, Drugs or Drug paraphernalia, alcohol, pyrotechnics, coolers, and duffel bags, and sUAS (Drones). In addition to these items, personal transportation such as bicycles, scooters, skates, skateboards, and go-carts will not be authorized unless required for medically necessary. Diaper bags including formula, snacks and water for toddlers will be allowed.
Pets are prohibited from the Air Show grounds. Service animals assisting physically challenged guests will be authorized. At no time will pets be left unattended outside the area or in vehicles.
Political Activity/Demonstrations are prohibited on military installations by Federal Law. Paraphernalia related to such activities will be prohibited from the Air Show and individuals will be briefed on this policy. Individuals failing to comply will be escorted off the installation.
