Gates open: 9 a.m.
Opening Ceremonies:  11:30 a.m.

America's Airfield: Celebrating History, Celebrating Freedom

The 2015 Joint Base Andrews Air Show is JBA's opportunity to say "thank you" to our community, the state and the National Capital Region for all their incredible support.

Guests will experience aerial demonstrations and learn more about the military personnel and equipment JBA uses to carry out the missions here.

Among other commemorations, the Joint Base Andrews Air Show is the culmination of many weeklong activities in the National Capital Region, to include the Air Force's Birthday Week celebration which runs from 14-19 Sep.  Also of note, this airshow will commemorate 100 years of the US Navy Reserve.

Avoid the large crowds and guarantee yourself a great seat close to the flight line and enjoy a great show!

Premium Box Seats - Assigned seats facing the show! These are chairs with backs - not bleacher seating. Children 3 and under are free and lap only. If you wish to have a seat for your 3 year old and under, a ticket needs to be purchased. No umbrellas are allowed in this area.

Frequently Asked Questions
The air show on Saturday is open to the public.  The air show on Friday is only available for Department of Defense personnel only and can be purchased at the JB Andrews ITT store.
1. Will there be an air show this year? What time does it start and end?

Yes, the air show is scheduled for September 19.  Gates open 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM.  First buses will begin to depart the parking locations at 8 and last buses will depart the base to return to parking at 5:30pm.  Shuttles will run continuously throughout the day except the last bus will depart parking to the Air Show at 1:00 PM.

2. Is the air show the same as the last one?

No. Due to economic restraints and a desire to be the best stewards of the funding we have been allotted, this air show will be scaled back.  Our goal, however, is to ensure the scaling back is as transparent to the public as possible.  We will still have excellent demonstrations of military airpower from modern military and heritage aircraft, plus family-friendly entertainment, ground exhibits, and other excitement.

3. Why is the air show only one day?

A one-day show will allow us to open the gates to the public in a way that will provide the same opportunities to educate and enhance public awareness of military capabilities, honor our heritage, and promote positive community and international relations while showcasing our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines under the constraints of the current fiscal environment.

4. Regarding the cutbacks. How does the air show fit in the budget?

Defense leadership takes a close look at balancing cutbacks with maintaining good community relations.  Air shows give an opportunity for the public to get an active view of what their military services capabilities are while generating interest in the military and its role in national security.

5. What is the purpose of having the air show?

Joint Base Andrews leadership wants to hold an air show and the Secretary of the Air Force Office of Public Affairs has approved so that we can increase the public awareness of Air Force preparedness, demonstrate modern military equipment and capabilities, promote positive community relations, showcase the men and women of the Armed Forces, and to support defense recruiting and retention. Opening Joint Base Andrews to the public provides opportunities for education and generates interest in the military and its role in national security.

6. Why is it the same day as Oceana's?

Among other commemorations, the Joint Base Andrews Air Show is also the culmination of many weeklong activities in the National Capital Region, to include the Air Force's Birthday Week celebration which runs from 14-19 Sep.  Also of note is this airshow will commemorate 100 years of the US Navy Reserve.

7. Will there be a joint service open house?

There will not be a separate JSOH in 2015.

8. Where can I find information about the air show?

The most current information can be found on our Facebook, Twitter and website.

We are working out those details and information will be forthcoming.  We will have parking options similar to previous airshows, but as with most major events in the NCR, usage of public transportation (WMATA) is strongly encouraged.

18. What is the plan for inclement weather?
