Please join us for our May Listening Room, featuring Dex Romweber.
From Dex's Wikipedia page:
Much has been said about rockabilly roots-rocker Dexter Romweber over the years, both positive and negative, and sorting fact from fiction is no easy undertaking. Words like "crazy," "possessed," "frenzied," and "demented" get thrown around quite a bit. But so do words like "authentic," "visionary," "genuine," and "genius." Which of these terms most accurately describes the man is up for debate. While that last g-word is thrown around way too often these days, don't be too quick to dismiss this description of Dexter. As for the man himself, Romweber seems to shrug off the attention responding simply by saying, "You tend to get a reputation traveling around, playing rock-n-roll." Indeed. And Dexter's credentials precede him in this department.
From Dex's Management:
It?s well and good that his praises are sung by the likes of Neko Case and Jack White ? the latter owing his career to the Duo Jets ? and it?s inevitable to hear the laments of Dex?s never having ?made it.? He?s put out fifteen albums and been on major tours and performed on network television, but let?s just accept that particular conceit about the man. Perhaps Dexter Romweber has a different type of ambition. He?s made his own music for three decades. He still wrings orchestras out of six strings. His voice keeps producing that focused shriek and commanding tone. He?s still a one-man band, no matter how many people perform with him. He still writes, sometimes achingly, terrifyingly, from the heart. Go see him now. Call him a legend later.
Beginning at 7:00ish, Dex will dazzle our ears with his music, following which, he will field questions from the audience. This is unique, intimate, seated, BYOB event. Feel free to bring a snack or a drink to share. You might make a new friend.
Because of the nature of the event, tickets ($7 in advance, $9 at the door) will be limited.
Remaining tickets will be for sale at the door; cash, checks, and credit cards will be accepted.
