PUSHKIN BALL
To celebrate the opening of the
VII International Festival of Russian-Speaking Children?s and Youth Theaters
June 1stat 4 pm
At the Russian Embassy in Washington, D.C.
(2650 Wisconsin Ave, Washington, DC 20007)
The Russian ball tradition started with Peter the Great when on November 26, 1718 he published his historic ?Order on Ballroom Assemblies.? It is symbolic therefore that Peter the Great himself will be hosting our Ball this year. Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin and a fairytale Swan Princess will assist him.
Our guests will be invited into the magic world of Pushkin?s fairy-tales and into the atmosphere of grand and splendid salons of Moscow and Saint-Petersburg of the 18thand 19thcenturies.
Everybody attending will have a chance to learn the basics of minuet, waltz, polka and cotillion and practice them too! The youngest of our guests will listen to Pushkin?s tales told by his nanny Arina Rodionovna.

- Workshop for making Pushkin?s time
accessories;
- Meeting the wonderful characters
from Pushkin?s poems;
- Performance by our talented young
artists;
- Runway show of the new historic
costumes collection by L. Hettick;

A.No parking is allowed on
the territory of the Embassy. Please park in available spaces in the vicinity
of the Embassy.

A. Full name and age must be provided for ALL guests to purchase
tickets. Recommended age is 8+ years.
Q. What is the handicap access like?

A.The main Ball room is
standing only. Adjacent rooms will have seating available.
