Cannon Air Force Base will open its gates to the public on June 6, 2026, for a commemorative air show themed “Normandy to Now.” This event honors the legacy of the D-Day landings while showcasing the evolution of America’s unconventional airpower from WWII to today.

General admission to the event is free and open to the public. A ticket is required for entry.

How do I get tickets to the Wings Over Cannon Air Show?

Is there a cost to get in?
Wings Over Cannon is FREE and open to the public.VIP Experience available.


Does my child ned a ticket for the VIP Experience?

Children 6-12 years of age require a ticket. Children 5 and under are free.


Do I need a military ID?
No, this event is open to the public.


Do Airmen who are volunteering need a ticket?
Volunteers, performers, and vendors do not need a ticket. We will be providing badges for all of them. Active duty volunteers need to be signed up on the official volunteer sheet sent out in night orders and ETIMS tasker. Volunteers will be in OCPs. Any family members of active duty volunteers will need to get tickets.



Parking & Entry


Where will I park?
Parking will be available on the ramp of the flightline. Our Security Forces will ensure proper traffic flow of cars from the Cannon AFB main gate to available parking. We recommend that people carpool to help free up parking spaces.


Will there be handicapped parking available?
Yes, there will be designated portions of the parking lots for properly tagged handicapped vehicles.


I need handicap parking. Do I need to purchase a VIP parking pass?
No. Space will be set aside for handicap parking in both lots. You will need to show a handicap tag to the parking attendants; they will move you to the front of the lot. You do still need to purchase a regular parking pass on the ticket website.


Is there special access for DOD ID cardholders?
On the day of the airshow, the right lane to the main gate will be reserved for DoD ID cardholders only. The Portales gate will also be open to DoD ID cardholders and is the recommended gate for cardholders to ease main gate traffic. There will be designated parking available off Chindit Blvd; however, DoD ID cardholders can park anywhere on base except for the Cannon Fire Department, Security Forces, and Airfield Operations parking lots. Additionally, the airshow entry control point for all DoD ID cardholders will be next to the Cannon AFB Fire Department.


How do I get to the Air Show?
Follow the arrival and parking instructions provided with your parking ticket. There will be signs and personnel available on the day of the show to direct traffic.


What items do I need to bring to access Cannon Air Force Base?
For visitors driving on base, they will need a valid driver’s license, proof of car insurance, and their vehicle registration.


Will I be permitted to exit the event and re-enter?

Yes. You will be directed to go through security again and then permitted to re-enter. 


Schedule & Event Hours

What time does the Air Show begin and end?
The gates open at 8:00 a.m. to the general public. The aerial performances will start at 10:00 a.m. Please note that general public inbound traffic to the base will end at 3:00 p.m., and the general public will need to depart the base by 5:00 p.m.


Will I be able to leave and return from the show?
Yes, however, you will have to process through the security checkpoint again. Please note that general public inbound traffic to the base will end at 3:00 p.m. The only inbound traffic allowed on base past 3:00 p.m. will be individuals with a valid DoW ID.


Security & Safety


How will Cannon AFB ensure my safety and security during Wings Over Cannon?
Safety is our #1 priority! All vehicles and personnel entering Cannon AFB are subject to search. Prior to the general public entering the airshow, all personnel will have to go through a Security Checkpoint facilitated by our 27th Special Operations Security Forces Squadron. All personnel will need to go through metal detectors, and belongings will be searched prior to entering to ensure everyone’s safety. During Wings Over Cannon, our Security Forces will be patrolling and monitoring the area. Additionally, there are multiple First Aid Stations available in case anyone has a medical need. First responders will be on standby!


Will there be any medical services provided?
First aid will be available to treat minor ailments such as dehydration, minor cuts, bruises, and applications of emergency medications (such as Epi-pens). On-site medical personnel will stabilize and coordinate transportation to higher level of care for all other injuries and illnesses.


Food, Drinks & Vendors


Will there be food for purchase at the Air Show?
Yes, there will be food for purchase. (More details will be forthcoming.)


Can I bring my own food and drinks?
We ask that visitors do not bring outside food or drinks.


Are alcoholic beverages allowed?
Alcoholic beverages may be purchased at the event, with proper I.D. You may NOT bring your own alcoholic beverages into the Air Show.


Do the food and souvenir vendors take cards?
Most of the vendors will accept major credit cards. ATMs will also be available.


I'm a food truck vendor interested in operating at the Air Show. How do I get involved?
All food trucks for our airshow will be contracted through AAFES. For any inquiries, please contact Public Affairs at 575-784-4131 or 27sowpa.publicaffairs@us.af.mil


Seating, Comfort & Amenities


Will there be seating available?
Cannon Air Force Base is providing bleachers for visitors, and they first come first served. It is recommended that visitors bring their own lawn chairs, as seating may be limited.


Will there be restrooms and facilities at the show?
Yes, portable restrooms will be located throughout the event, including handicapped-accessible units. Handwashing and sanitization stations will also be available, as well as a nursing station. There will also be free water bottles made available to attendees.


Will there be any shade?
The open flight line offers no shade; however, there are areas such as the STEM hangar that will provide a break from the sun.


Should I bring hearing protection?
Bringing your own hearing protection is highly recommended, especially for young children.


Family & Activities


Will there be anything for young children to do there?
Yes! Not only is there a Kid's Zone filled with fun activities, but there will also be a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Hangar packed with interactive booths and entertaining activities.


How much does the Kid's Zone cost?
It will be $10 for a day pass or $5 for a single entry. Tickets to the Kid's Zone will be made available on the day of the Airshow on Saturday, June 6th.


Allowed & Prohibited Items

Can I bring a camera?
Yes, visitors are allowed to bring their own camera or use their mobile phones to take pictures and videos.


Can I bring a camera bag?
Yes, however, the bag cannot be larger than 8”x8”.


Can I bring a diaper bag?
Yes, but the diaper bag will be subject to search.


Can I bring a wagon to carry my children around the airshow?
Yes, but the wagon will be subject to search.


Is smoking allowed?
No, Wings Over Cannon is a smoke-free event.


Can I leave my bag/chair/stuff unattended while I walk around the show?
No. For both safety and security, do not leave any personal items unattended.



Parking Rules & Restrictions

Can I leave my car on base overnight in the general parking area?
No. Any cars left in the general parking areas past 5:00 PM on June 6th will be towed at the car owner’s expense.


Is tailgating allowed?
No, parking lots are reserved for transiting to and from the show only.


Weather

Is there a weather backup plan?
No. If the show is canceled due to weather, there will not be a backup day.


Additional Information

Will I be able to buy merchandise, t-shirts, patches, etc.?
There will be multiple booster clubs and private organizations from Cannon Air Force Base that will have merchandise for sale.
